In these end times
sin is rampant and nearly all of us in our lives are experiencing pain caused
by someone else’s sinful action. The #MeToo
movement is revealing the many horror stories of sexual assaults against women
and men in the entertainment industry a perfect example of how one person's sin can harm the life of another.
But there are the
other #MeToo’s. I happen to come across the case of Scott Baio an actor and
television director and Nicole Eggert an actress who appeared in one of his
shows. With the rampant rape in
Hollywood and Politics being exposed after the start of the #Metoo movement,
which initially exposed the many sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey
Weinstein. Shockingly it was not just
men abusing women and young girls but also men abusing boys and other men. The
names have been splattered all over the media and one by one these men are being
stripped of awards and roles and their position. But, there is the other side of MeToo, the
false accusers who come out in hopes of
keeping their name in the limelight making MeToo victims of the falsely accused.
These false
allegations are made by publicity whores who will do anything to remain in the
limelight or who falsely accuse others for their own gain. I know of a producer whose name I will not
mention who ended up in the Enquirer years ago after his former wife sold a false
story both to profit and to keep herself in the limelight. He won a lawsuit against the paper for what
it published. This woman went onto
other stunts to keep herself in the limelight.
Not all who
falsely accuse do it for publicity, there are many reasons people will smear
another’s reputation even to the point of having them arrested. I know of a
Columbian pastor who was falsely accused by an illegal and her daughter and is
now in prison for her to gain her continued stay in the United States.
In Hollywood some
celebrities become addicted to fame and their name in the media as if it were a
drug and it becomes a false god in their life.
Such is the case
of Scott Baio who has been accused by Nicole Eggert. He has gone out of his way to provide a good
deal of evidence to counter her claims including a recorded interview of her own words. One look
at her and you doubt the credibility of her story and that along with the fact
that she does not rank among the high
profile actors and actresses makes her a
good candidate for this type of deceit.
But, Scott Baio is
now a #metoo of the falsely accused and who know how many others are in his camp. Scott Baio is now experiencing first hand what 2 Timothy warns of the end times:
2 Timothy 3:1-5 reads:
3 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will
come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves,
lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful,
unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers,
without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors,
headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having
a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
That’s right, people will be out for themselves
and they will not care who they hurt in the process. In their sin they will
leave a wake of destruction and suffering for people.
It will get so bad and then as the book of Daniel tells us 8:23
that when the transgressors are come to the full, a king will stand up and this
references the Antichrist and the beginning of the Tribulation period. During this period the sin is so great we see family
members turning over other family
members to death in the Antichrist’s dictatorship.
One person’s sin
can destroy a life and even take many lives.
Gymnast doctor Larry Nasser destroyed the lives of over 140 women and
one woman’s father committed suicide over the ordeal.
Talking about one man’s sin and the power of its destruction, history records
dictators who have killed millions and destroyed life after life. Such
is also the recorded case of Adam in the Bible who the Bible tells us that
by one man’s sin, sin entered into
the world. Romans 5: 12 tells us:
12 Wherefore, as by
one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon
all men, for that all have sinned:
But Romans 5:18-21 states:
18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all
men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came
upon all men unto justification of life.
19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so
by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound.
But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace
reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Despite the destructiveness of sin, this is there is
something greater that has overcome its power, and it is Jesus Christ. He has conquered sin and He is
the friend that sticks closer than a
brother and a refuge in times of trouble.
Sadly for the sexual
assault victims of #MeToo, both those who were assaulted and the Scott Baio’s
who are falsely accused, Jesus knows their pain as he suffered greatly in this
life and he too was falsely accused and He overcame. We too will overcome the extreme
difficulties these end times present us with. We also have the hope
of eternity and a world where there will be no more sin or the pain that comes
from another man or woman’s
actions.
Jesus said in John 16:33:
33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will[a] have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Bible prophecy presents frightening truths to the reader, but its message is not entirely one of doom and gloom. Believers in Jesus Christ will not go through the Tribulation.
God will take them out of the world in the Rapture just before it begins. God provides a way out. His way offers refuge and eternal life.
God’s gift of eternal life with Christ is simple to obtain, but few will take it. All men are sinners. Sin is anything that we say or do that does not bring glory to God. God is righteous, and the slightest sin within us makes us unrighteous in His sight. There is nothing in and of ourselves that we can do to obtain the favor of God. Isaiah 64:6 states: “And all our righteousness are like filthy rags.” God will not even accept one into heaven for his good works. Salvation is by faith alone. Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us: “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works lest anyone should boast.”
But Romans 10:13 promises, “For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” God promises eternal life to anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as his personal savior.
John 5:24 states: “Most assuredly, I say to you, He who hears My word, and believes in him who sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment; but has passed from death into life.”
If you want to be sure that you are saved and that heaven will be your home, pray this simple sinner’s prayer and mean it with all of your heart: “Oh God, be merciful to me as a sinner, I believe that Jesus died for my sins, and trust Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord Jesus for saving me.”
He that believes in the Son has everlasting life: and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him. (John 3:36)
