The Ten Kings - Modern
Politics Predicted
In the book of
Daniel and the Revelation it is predicted that the final world empire will have
a government of ten kings along with the Antichrist. Revelation 17 tells us
that the ten kings willingly give their power and authority to the Beast and
they have one mind.
In relation to the
Whore of Babylon, these kings aid the Antichrist in her destruction.
The ten king alliance the Bible describes in
governmental terms is called a federation and is not a confederation.
In a confederation,
nations or states share governmental tasks.
In a federation, the members relinquish some of their sovereignty to a
higher authority, which makes the laws and regulations for the signing
states. The Scriptures describe the
federation’s members as actual nations, not provinces or states. The Bible’s federation acts as a
dictatorship.
Federations did not exist at the
time the prophecy was given in the book of Daniel or the Revelation.
Note what the Scripture tells us:
Revelation 17:12-13:
12 “The
ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but
they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These
are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.
Revelation
17:16-17 adds:
16 And
the ten horns which you saw on the
beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh
and burn her with fire. 17 For
God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and
to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled.
Nations joining empires is a
modern phenomenon and is exhibited in the European Union. Ancient empires came
about by military conquests. The Roman
Empire had some neighboring tribes who opted for Roman protection such as the
Goths and the Vandals, but no king went to another and willingly joined his
kingdom.
The United States is the first
real federation to arise on the geological scene. The European Union models
itself on the US only it comprises of member nations vs. states, just like we
see depicted in the books of Daniel and Revelation.
Some historians will site distant
types of federations that existed in history with the earliest being the League
of Corinth. This was an alliance of Greek states created by Philip II of
Macedon during the winter of 338 BC/337 BC after the Battle of Chaeronea, to
facilitate his use of military forces.
The next would be the Kingdom of the Franks; a confederation comprised
of West Germanic Tribes in 481 to 843.
Nations giving their countries
over to another power is a byproduct of modern society resulting from
globalization, the increase of technology, threats of magnitude destruction of
modern weaponry and global problems.
In the book of Daniel we see that the Antichrist rise after the ten kings, meaning that their kingdoms are already established when he comes on the scene. Notice the ten kings are joining a separate kingdom (empire) that is not theirs.
Daniel 7:24 states:
“And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that
shall arise and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the
first, and he shall subdue three kings.”
Again, we see this
fulfilled today in modern 20th and 21st century politics
in the European Union.
Former Commission president Manuel
Barroso called the EU ‘the first non-imperial
empire,” because the kingdoms willingly
hand over their kingdoms.
Revelation 17:12-13 tells
us:
“And the
ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet; but
they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast, these are of one
mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.”
This verse describes the relationship of the
ten kings to the Antichrist. They both
strive for the same goals. One entity
does not exist without the other. The
Council of The European (formerly Council of Ministers) give their strength and
power to the Commission. Without the
member nations that hand over their authority to the Commission, there would be
no European Union.
Several articles in the
EU Treaty reflect their having one mind.
Article 162 states: “The Council and the Commission shall consult each
other and settle by common accord their methods of cooperation.”
The Scriptures are
unprecedented in their accuracy and detail. Although written over 2000 years
ago, one Bible verse epitomizes the contents of two treaties in just 14
words. “These shall have one mind and shall give their power and strength unto
the Beast.”
Over and over, one reads of the Commission’s and Council Ministers’ simultaneous role. Peter Ludlow, the founding director of the Centre For European Policy Studies think-tank in Brussels, referred to the Commission-Council relationship as a “partnership.”[i] Of the EU’s institutions, the Commission and the Council (of Ministers) represent the leading authorities.

Based on the description
of “reining as Kings” elevates the current Council as a true power center for
the entire Union. In their final form
they exist united with equal authority but only for a time because at the
height of the EU’s power we see the Antichrist’s horn growing above the other
horns and the Scripture tells us it is for a time they are co joined.
Currently the EU has 27
members with more wanting to join. In my book the Seat of the Antichrist: Bible
Prophecy and the European Union I wrote about the EU’s current proposals for an
inner core of members, a political core that would reduce the current members
in the council and stated:
Guy Verhofstadt, former Belgian Prime
Minister and EU Parliamentarian authored a manifesto for Europe titled, The United States of Europe: Manifesto for a
New Europe, in it he discusses the inner core and added his own proposals
and summarized them in his article, “Only a New ‘political core’ can drive
Europe forward again.” He stated:
Only through adopting a unified approach
in all these areas will Europe really count as a world player. …In such a
scenario, Europe would comprise two concentric circles: a political core that
is a “United States of Europe” based on the Eurozone, and surrounding it a
confederation of countries, or a “Organization of European States”.
Naturally, this political core must never prevent or oppose any form of broader cooperation. All EU Member States wishing to join it, old or new, should be able to do so; the sole precondition should be their willingness to work unconditionally on pushing ahead with the overall political project. The notion of a “United States of Europe” is the only option for the old continent.

There already
exists the “enhance cooperation” clause in the Lisbon Treaty that allows member
nations to go forward in areas of cooperation and advanced integration ahead of
others if they so wish and they must have a minimum number of nations in
agreement and the number is nine nations.
This is no coincidence, this is unfolding Bible Prophecy.
Guy
Verhofstadt this year helped draft a report for the European Parliament that calls
for a special law council within the
Council. This is another approach at
reducing the number of members to an inner core. This will happen because right now the government
of the EU was not meant to function with 27 member, it was never intended to
have more than a dozen at the most. EU leaders decided at the 60th
anniversary of the Treaty of Rome in Rome to go forward with a core group of
members.
These are exciting
times in which we live to be able to see Bible Prophecy unfold before our eyes
right down to these finer details.
It is amazing
that the book of Daniel predicted a geopolitical structure that would not
emerge on the scene until about twenty five hundred years later. Nation states themselves became a phenomena
of the last couple of hundred years.
The ten kings
take part in the judgment of the Whore of Babylon, which is discussed in detail
